The comfiest way to play video games? In your bed with the screen on the ceiling! Behold, my gaming BED SETUP ๐Ÿ›

The Request

Hey Pirates, PK here. Many people asked me to share my Gaming Bed Setup as I did for my Productivity Couch Setup. For example, these are my gaming setups in 2007, 2014, and 2021.

Although I hardly have the time to play any games nowadays - thanks to my YouTube channel - I will disclose how I set it up. I'll also share why I thought of such a thing and then go over the needs and wants of the setup. Lastly, I'll list the pros and cons. So, do you want to see what it looks like? Well, let's find out. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Welcome to my bedroom. First of all, some of you have mistaken the screen for a TV on the ceiling. But no, there's no TV above me; it's a projector projecting onto the ceiling. Next, many people were worried that my couch setup's monitor would fall and smash my face. Well, I guess it's safer this time since the ceiling won't fall, right?

Enough chit-chat. Let's start with the question. Why do I play games like this? Well, isn't it obvious by now? Because it's comfy! Duh. And the entire ceiling's your screen! I'm sure many of you have tried projecting onto a wall before. Then why not the ceiling!? ๐Ÿ™„ They both look like dull white plain flat surfaces to me. ๐Ÿคท But what do you think is the comfier posture here? These...? Or this?

The Needs

Let's talk about the gears starting with the needs, the essentials. The first thing you need is a projector, obviously. Unless you literally install a TV on your ceiling, a projector can do the magic for you. Any projector works as long as you can plug your gaming console and tilt it at the right angle. Oh, but it does help if it has an adjustable foot and can flip the projection. More on those coming up. If you still need help choosing one, here's my projector - Amazon affiliate links included.

It's Full HD (1080P), but it supports 4K and sizes up to 350 inches. I spent a fair amount of time shopping and choosing the right projector because I wanted something that was both affordable and made sense for gaming. You don't want to play games in 720P because that simply sucks. And native 4K projectors are out of budget. If you want to play in 4K, do it with your TV. 1080P is sufficient in my experience; you are sacrificing high-quality graphics for comfiness. The setup's all about chilling and relaxing. I mean, if you're a serious gamer, you shouldn't be playing lying down in the first place. ๐Ÿคท

Another critical feature is the projector's ability to flip or reverse the screen projection. You don't need such a thing if you can place it on top of your head. But if you have to put it across your bed like my current setup, this feature helps a lot because you can adjust the screen orientation with a click of a button. Another crucial thing is the adjustable foot. You can unscrew and mount it to your tripod, as in the video. The second thing you need is a bed; this is a gaming bed setup, after all. Third, a gaming console; we're here to play games. And finally, a ceiling, obviously. And that's it. That's all you need!

The Wants

So those are the needs. What about the wants, though, the nice-to-haves? The first nice-to-have is a smart light switch integrated with a smart assistant. You wonโ€™t have to move a finger turning the lights on and off. The second nice-to-have is a blackout curtain. I don't have one now, but I know this is crucial because I had one before. You see, the thing about projectors is that it works best when everything's dark. The projected screen isn't visible during the day, especially with all the sunlight. The third nice-to-have is a camera tripod. Again, if you have a projector with an adjustable foot, you can unscrew it, mount it on a tripod, and adjust the angle however you like. The fourth nice-to-have is a phone holder. If you have one of those small minuscule projectors, try holding them using these phone holders as I've done in the 2014 setup; they work well, too.

The Pros and Cons

Now let's quickly talk about the pros and cons of this setup. Let's start with the pros. One, it's comfy. This is the best part of the setup; it's so comfortable. If you play Nintendo Switch like this, You can even position your arms however you like. Compare that to the traditional controllers, where you would have to put the controller on your belly. Two, you can play games on a bigger screen. If you have a small TV, This is one way to enjoy on a larger screen. Three, you can watch movies, too! Four, you can naturally fall asleep.

Now, the cons. One, you get sleepy quickly. Two, you must find a way to darken your room for the best gaming experience. Three, you might have to wear glasses if you don't have good eyesight since the screen's further away. Four, it's not exactly pretty... But does it need to be? Five, it's not for serious gamers. But again, the whole purpose of this setup is to chill and relax. Play games like Final Fantasy, Zelda, Pokemon, or Animal Crossing; you know, the ones you can afford to play while falling asleep. For that reason, you probably don't want to play PC games with this setup. I mean, where are you going to put your mouse? Play League of Legends like this, and you'll be banned in five minutes.
